  • Introduction

Welcome to the Southeastern Buddhist Retreat Center (“StarlitePhi,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). These Terms & Conditions govern your use of our website, participation in our retreats, programs, classes, events, and any services we provide (collectively, the “Services”). By accessing our website or registering for any StarlitePhi activity, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree, please discontinue use of our website and services.

 

  • Mission & Nature of Services

StarlitePhi is a nonprofit organization dedicated to offering Buddhist teachings, meditation retreats, community programs, and opportunities for healing, learning, and service. Our programs are educational and spiritual in nature and are not a substitute for medical, psychological, or legal services.

 

  • Eligibility

To participate in StarlitePhi programs, you must:

    • Be at least 18 years old, unless attending a designated youth program and with parental consent.
    • Be able to participate safely and respectfully
    • Provide accurate information during registration
    • Agree to all retreat‑specific guidelines

We reserve the right to decline participation when necessary for safety, capacity, or program integrity.

 

  • Registration & Payment

Registration is complete only when:

    • The Event Application form is submitted
    • Payment is received (if applicable)
    • You receive a confirmation email

StarlitePhi may cancel or reschedule programs due to teacher availability, weather, emergencies, or insufficient enrollment.

 

  • Our Responsibilities & Retreat Logistics

Minimum Retreat Attendance Requirement
We reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a retreat if the minimum number of registered participants is not met. In the event of such a cancellation, all registered participants will receive a full refund of their retreat fee. We are not responsible for any additional costs incurred by participants, including travel, lodging, or other personal expenses. Review also out Retreat Refund & Cancellation Policy.

  • Notification Timeline:
    If a retreat is at risk of cancellation due to low enrollment, SEBRC will notify registered participants no later than 14 days before the scheduled start date.

 

  • Cancellation & Refund Policy

Participant‑initiated cancellations

Refunds or credits may be available depending on the timing of cancellation and the specific retreat policy. Administrative fees may apply.

By submitting the Event Application form you signify that you have read and consent with StarlitePhi’s: Terms & Conditions, Retreat Refund & Cancellation Policy, Refund & Returns on Purchased Items.

StarlitePhi‑initiated cancellations

If StarlitePhi cancels a program, participants will receive:

    • A full refund, or
    • The option to transfer to another program

StarlitePhi is not responsible for travel, lodging, or other personal expenses.

 

  • Health, Safety & Personal Responsibility

By participating in StarlitePhi programs, you acknowledge and agree that:

    • Meditation and retreat activities may involve physical, emotional, or psychological challenges
    • You are responsible for monitoring your own well‑being
    • You will inform staff of any relevant medical conditions
    • You will seek professional medical or psychological support when needed

StarlitePhi does not provide medical or therapeutic services.

COVID‑19 or other health protocols

Participants must follow any health guidelines in effect at the time of the retreat.

 

  • Conduct & Community Standards

StarlitePhi is a Buddhist community grounded in compassion, respect, and ethical conduct. Participants agree to:

    • Treat all individuals with kindness and respect
    • Maintain confidentiality of personal sharing
    • Refrain from harassment, discrimination, or disruptive behavior
    • Follow retreat guidelines, including silence periods when applicable
    • Respect the land, facilities, and wildlife

StarlitePhi may remove any participant who violates these standards without refund.

By submitting the Event Application form you signify that you have read and consent with StarlitePhi’s: Terms & Conditions, Retreat Specific Liability Waiver, Participant Code of Conduct.

 

  • Accessibility & Accommodation

StarlitePhi strives to create an inclusive environment. Reasonable accommodations may be available depending on facility limitations. Please contact us in advance with accessibility needs.

 

  • Liability Waiver

By participating in StarlitePhi programs, you voluntarily assume all risks associated with:

    • Travel to and from the retreat
    • Participation in meditation, yoga, or movement practices
    • Use of StarlitePhi facilities
    • Outdoor activities

To the fullest extent permitted by law, StarlitePhi is not liable for:

    • Injuries
    • Illness
    • Loss or damage to personal property
    • Accidents or unforeseen events

Participants agree to hold StarlitePhi, its teachers, volunteers, and staff harmless from claims arising from participation.

 

  • Privacy & Data Use

StarlitePhi collects only the information necessary to:

    • Process registrations
    • Communicate with participants
    • Maintain safety
    • Improve programs
    • Advertisement & Promotions

We do not sell or share personal information with third parties except as required by law or essential service providers (e.g., payment processors).

 

  • Donations

Donations to StarlitePhi are voluntary and non‑refundable unless otherwise stated. StarlitePhi is a nonprofit organization; donations may be tax‑deductible depending on your jurisdiction.

 

  • Intellectual Property

All content on the StarlitePhi website—including text, images, videos, and teaching materials—is the property of StarlitePhi or its teachers and may not be reproduced without permission.

 

  • Website Use

You agree not to:

    • Misuse the website
    • Attempt unauthorized access
    • Distribute harmful software
    • Use StarlitePhi content for commercial purposes

StarlitePhi may modify or discontinue website features at any time.

 

  • Photography & Media

StarlitePhi may take photos or videos during events for educational or promotional purposes. You may opt out by notifying staff in writing before the event.

 

  • Changes to Terms
